Designing Better Authentication to Make the Web Safer
Oct. 7, 2020

There was probably a data breach today. Or yesterday. Likely both. Maybe that password you use for everything made its way to the dark web. Perhaps your personal data was leaked when a major retailer got hacked. Could be you’ve noticed something weird in your history on your favorite streaming service.

Our data is constantly at risk of being exposed and sometimes it feels like you have to become a security expert just to protect yourself. But there is some good news. As more companies start to recognize authentication as a design problem the user experience of logging in to your favorite app or service is steadily improving. Come learn about password alternatives, two factor authentication, and biometric authentication, and leave with few simple steps you can take to make your data more secure. (The secret code for this meeting is 123456.)
