About the Speaker
Cheryl Platz is the author of Design Beyond Devices: Creating Multimodal, Cross-Device Experiences and a world-renowned designer whose work on emerging technologies has reached millions of customers across multiple industries. Cheryl’s professional passions include natural user interfaces, applied storytelling in design and research, and taming fierce complexity in any manifestation. In her current full-time role as a Principal UX Designer at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Cheryl led the service design effort for the yearlong transition to modern remote meetings and human-centered design efforts to define the future of knowledge management at the foundation. Past employers include Amazon (Alexa), Microsoft (Azure, Cortana), Electronic Arts (The Sims, The Urbz), Griptonite Games (Disney Friends), Disney Parks (PhotoPass), and MAYA Design.Cheryl is also Principal and Owner of her own design education firm Ideaplatz, LLC through which she shares her expertise with the global design community via talks, workshops, writing, and limited consulting engagements. She’s delivered her sought-after talks and workshops in 16 countries across five continents.

Dylan Wilbanks (he/him) is currently Product Design Manager at Syniti, an enterprise cloud company solving the complex data problems of business. His career has included stops at HP Enterprise, Apptio, and the University of Washington. As a leader and mentor in the design field, people look to Dylan for strategic insight, tactical planning, and design leadership in their organizations. He has presented on user experience and accessibility at conferences such as SXSW and Webvisions. He is also co-founder and a managing editor of The Interconnected, an online journal of the ways UX design creates and alters our connectedness with the world.
