In stark contrast to the dramatic impacts that Artificial Intelligence may have on the tech industry, there is an alternative path to deriving true insights from data that we call “Organic Intelligence.” Organic Intelligence is all about math and computers applied to data to tell a story about the human experience. If we could only understand Organic Intelligence better, then its cousin AI won’t seem quite so mysterious or ominous, and we could understand it better. In this interactive presentation, Robin will describe our relationship to data, cognition and perception; the five families of mathematics that are commonly applied to data to produce insights and aid decision-making; and the limitations of modern computing contrasted with the boundary of human intelligence, and how we’re more likely to perform best when we pair computer and human intelligence for what they are naturally inclined to provide as complementary strengths. Please arrive in person, and bring some comfortable shoes, as Robin might call on you to volunteer in some interactive exercises. No technical jargon or experience required!
